ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jeffrey W. Barhite, 64, of Rochester, N.Y., passed away Feb. 13, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Salamanca, N.Y., to William and Catherine (Conte) Barhite.

Jeffrey was a graduate of the former Archbishop Walsh High School, Alfred State College and Pace University. He worked as a fundraising professional until he retired. Jeffrey won the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Award for volunteer fundraiser of the year when he founded the award winning event, “Knock AIDS for a Loop!” in Rochester, N.Y.

Jeffrey always put his family first and left an impact on the lives of everyone he touched. After he retired, he spent his summers living the good life at the Maine seacoast and his friends deemed him the Mayor of Meadowledge. Anyone who knew him knew he served as a true example of someone with unconditional love for all, especially his boys Henry and Fred. He brought laughter and joy to everyone he met, and always had a way of balancing his wit with his love.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine Barhite; sister, Mary Lynn (Daniel) Perry; nephew, Jeffrey (Ashley) Perry; and a niece, Julie (Joe Rodella) Perry.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Barhite. Donations can be made to Trillium Health, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, and Lollypop Farm in Rochester, N.Y.

There will be a celebration of life at a date to be determined in Rochester, N.Y., and in Wells, Maine. A memorial mass will be held Friday, at 10 a.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 303 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH, 43050, with Father Mark Hammond officiating.
