MOUNT VERNON — Juanita Hurps, 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born May 3, 1928, in Croton, daughter of the late Bert and Addie (Womeldorf) Kenney.

Juanita was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Juanita is survived by her loving husband, Louis Hurps, whom she married June 22, 1947; her caring children, Richard (Anne) Hurps of Newark and Deborah (Daniel) Clary of Newark; grandchildren, Anthony (Alicia) Hurps of Pickerington, Richelle (Shane) Wilson of Newark, Rebecca (Charles) Brown of Mount Vernon, and James (Donya) Clary of Newark; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Aaliyah, Jordyn, Karmynn and Daniel; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded by six brothers and five sisters.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at Monday, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Robert Veenhuis officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.
