CHANDLER, Ariz. — Edna Caroline Hayman passed away in Chandler, Ariz., on Jan. 24, 2014. Edna was born July 27, 1920, in West Virginia, to John Allen and Nanny Hill Compton. She met and married the love of her life, Elmer Hayman, on Sept. 9, 1942. Together they had two sons, Gregory and Ronald. She spent many years as a beautician and later on worked for Diamonds (Dillards). Edna and Elmer moved to Arizona in 1956 and made it their permanent home.
She was an avid lover of golf and was best known for her membership to the Shalimar 9-Hers Golf Club. Edna also had an artistic passion to create leatherwork and beautiful stained glass. She loved cats and any music by Kenny G, Glenn Miller and Tennessee Ernie Ford. She was most lovingly known as a wonderful mother and teacher to Greg and Ron, and her grandkids. Edna will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Bud” Hayman. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Paula Hayman, and Ronald and Bonnie Hayman; her grandson, Tim (Kati); her granddaughter, Lori Hayman; her sister, Garnette Reynolds; as well as many friends.
A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Funeraria Melcher Chapel of the Roses 43 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ 85204. A Committal Service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
