MOUNT VERNON — Bryan Drew Riley, 51, passed away peacefully in the company of family, Jan. 25, 2014, after a five year battle with cancer. His even temperament and great tolerance to pain helped to sustain him during his affliction.
Drew was a longtime employee of the local Goetzman Auto dealership and considered the staff more as family than coworkers. That facility was his second home. His vocation was automobiles and his avocation was cars. From an early age his interest was evident. Over the years he modified, repaired, bought, sold, crewed and raced cars. He had a keen interest in racing, particularly NASCAR, drag racing and dirt track. He enjoyed watching TV car auctions and the exotic cars that could be seen. He always aided family when they had car troubles. Drew was a 1980 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and attended the technical school in Newark.
Survived by his parents, Paul and Sue; brother, Joel (Laura) and nephew, Justin Riley; aunts and uncles, Marianne and Bob Walters, and Sally and Albert Bryan; and first cousins, Scott Walters, Brian Walters and Keith Bryan. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Bern and Juanita Riley; and Henry and June Bryan.
Friends may call Thursday, at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon from 2 to 4 p.m., where a Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. with Scott Burgess officiating the service.
The family has request memorial contribution be made to American Cancer Society, envelopes will be available at funeral home.
