CENTERBURG — Betty Jean Wilson, 72, of Centerburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home.

She was born May 15, 1941, in Coshocton, to the late Onie and Annabelle (Taylor) Bodkin. Betty was employed as a nurse at Rose Garden Nursing Home, in Mount Vernon, and retired in 2011. She was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association, and Green Valley Southern Baptist Church. Betty was a 1959 graduate of Watkins Memorial High School, and a 1973 graduate of COTC with a degree in nursing. She was a huge OSU football, basketball fan, loved sewing, knitting and cooking. She enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, where she would visit old friends. She had a strong faith and loved to help others. Betty was very proud of her three daughters and how they all graduated from The Ohio State University.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Joe) Barber of Mount Vernon, Gwen Gorley of Newark, Susan (Dennis) Combs of Danville; four grandchildren, Jon and Dylan Barber, Sarah Gorley and Jasmine (Chris) Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Nathaniel Cunningham; and her brother, Robert “Sonny” (Bev) Bodkin of Newark.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lawrence; and a son-in-law, Duane Ray Baldwin.

Per Betty’s request, there will be no calling hours and the family will observe a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Diabetes Association, 471 East Broad Street Suite 1630, Columbus, Ohio 43215; or Green Valley Southern Baptist Church, 1680 Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
