MOUNT VERNON — Alfreda Mae Bond, 89, of Mount Vernon, died Monday morning, Jan. 20, 2014, at her home. She was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Centerburg, to the late Carl and Hattie (Elkins) Morey.
Alfreda was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mount Vernon. She had worked in sales for the former Rudin’s Department Store. Alfreda enjoyed bowling, knitting, traveling and collecting bells from all over the United States.
Alfreda is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Richard F. Bond; son, Stephen Bond of Mount Vernon; sisters, Shirley (Sherman) Tomes and Linda (Larry) Tomes of Mount Vernon, and Helen (Bill) Weaver of McKinney, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alfreda was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Morehouse and Margaret Zimmerman; and brother, Robert Morey.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Christian Church, 5 Harrison Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, in Alfreda’s memory.
