MOUNT VERNON — Ernst K. Renner, born Oct. 19, 1932, in Saint Gallen, Switzerland, died peacefully at his home in Mount Vernon. He is survived by his wife, Margaret.

After graduation from the University in Switzerland, Ernst traveled by bicycle through Europe to look for work in Paris, France. He worked for a Swiss Company in Colombia, South America, before coming to New York in 1964. He met his wife, Margaret, in New York. Ernst worked for Fairbanks Morse in Beloit, Wisc., before moving to Mount Vernon where he retired from Cooper Industries.

Ernst’s passion was sailing, which he and Margaret did together, sailing to all the Great Lakes, as well New York City, on their beloved sailboat, Makara. He also was an avid downhill and cross-country skier.

In following Ernst’s wish, there will not be any services.
