MOUNT VERNON — Karen M. Dernbach, 75, of Yauger Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1938, in Aurora, Ill., to the late C. Woodrow and Kathryn (Evans) McKay. Karen was a retired teacher. She was a member of the Berean Faith Fellowship Church in Mount Vernon.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Gordy) Harmon of Mount Vernon; her son, Michael (Alishia) Dernbach of Bellville; three grandchildren, Kathryn (Jesse) Bryant, Amanda (Josh) John and Logan Dernbach; six great-grandchildren, Layna Bryant, Meira Bryant, Nason Bryant, Elizabeth John, Sarah John and Luke John; two brothers, Randy McKay and Jeff (LaJuana) McKay; and her sister, Lynn McKay.
Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Richard “Dick” Dernbach.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Berean Faith Fellowship Church 103 Madison Street, Mount Vernon. A service will be held Tuesday at the church, beginning at 1 p.m., with her son-in-law, Pastor Gordy Harmon officiating. The family will observe a private burial.
