CLEARWATER, Fla. — Ada Lones Brickles, 99, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in Clearwater, Fla. She was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Morgan Township, to J.B. Stull and Elsie Brooks. On Nov. 2, 1935, she married Robert S. Lones, he died Jan. 22, 1994. On March 25, 1995, she married Herbert Brickles in Frostproof, Fla., he died Sept. 20, 2003. Ada was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edwin and Howard Stull; and infant son, Robert Case Lones.
Ada is survived by one son, E. Robert Lones (Janet) of Clearwater, Fla.; and one daughter, Patricia J. Adams (William) of Tecumseh, Mich.; stepson, Billy (Mary) Brickles of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Greg, Howard (Peggy), Gale and Jay Bertke of Michigan, Susan Lones of Clearwater, Fla., Amy Land (Jay) of Oregonia, Ohio, and Stansell Lones (Suzanne) of Pickerington, Ohio; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, Eric Bertke, Tasha Thurman (Steve), Justin and Jacob Bertke of Michigan, Andrew Bertke (Katie) Bertke of Lake Mary, Fla., Abigail and Alex Land of Oregonia, Ohio; six stepgreat-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren Audrey, Caitlin, Caleb, Austin, Carter, Isabella, Ava Bertke and Gage Thurman, all of Michigan; and she is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ada will be remembered for being devoted to her family, dancing and playing cards with friends, and caring for her flowers. She was a member of Palm Harbor United Methodist Church in Palm Harbor, Fla., and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of 65 years.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, with Pastor David Rakes officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gambier.
