SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Bradford Paul Porterfield, 64, passed away peacefully, at home in South Bend, Ind., on Dec. 26, 2013, from complications of heart disease.

He was born Oct. 2, 1949, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Thomas H. Porterfield Sr. and Mary Eleanor (Durbin) Porterfield. He was 1967 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Brad had a successful career in restaurant concept development and management.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark Porterfield (stillborn); and a niece, Peggy J. Gresko.

He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Gresko of Parma Heights, Ohio, Peggy Penkhus of Mount Vernon, Karen Drabick of Columbia, Md., Mary Stoner of Cambridge, Ohio; and his brothers, Father David J. Porterfield C.S.C. of South Bend, Ind., Thomas H. (Eileen) Porterfield Jr. of Arlington, Va., Edward C. Porterfield and Roger Jon Porterfield, both of Mount Vernon. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces.

Per Brad’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private memorial service at a future date.
