MOUNT VERNON — Harry E. Bales Jr., 59, of Mount Vernon, passed away Dec. 18, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1954, in Glen Allen, W.Va. Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a former employee with TRW and Ariel Corp.

He is survived by his wife, of 36 years, Gabriele (Keil) Bales; a daughter, Cindi (Jeremy) Coey of Mount Vernon; his father, Harry Bales Sr. of Howard; brother, Charles Bales of Florida; sister, Joyce (Coby) Pfouts of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Wesley, Jada and Kelly; and a sister-in-law, Angelika (Guenther) Young of Germany.

Harry was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Bales; a son, Ronny E. Bales; grandson, Nickalos Bales; mother and father-in-law, Kurt (Susie) Keil; brother, James Bales; and a sister-in-law, Karen Bales.

Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, at 1 p.m., in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
