COLUMBUS — Katherine L. “Scally” Sweat Caccavello, 60, of Huy Road, Columbus, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 15, 1952, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Robert F. and Violet (Burkhimer) Day. Katherine worked as a hair stylist in the Mount Vernon and Columbus areas. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, but most important to her was the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Caccavello; her father; three daughters, Leslie Caccavello of Columbus, Jamie Caccavello of Cleveland and Chaleene Caccavello of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Brandon Lowery, Savannah Molihan, Juliette Nicholson, Zane Nicholson and Kevin Ponziano Wagner; a brother, Robert R. (Janet) Day of Mount Vernon; and three sisters, Ginny (Rocky) Lane, Sherry (Jim) Colopy and Margaret (Bob) Hampton, all of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her mother; and a brother, Roger Sweat.

Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Rookies Sports Pub. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon assisted the family with arrangements.
