MOUNT VERNON — Phyllis E. Bibby, 87, of Mount Vernon, was called home to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, Dec. 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Morgantown, W.Va., daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Rager) Moore. Phyllis was a Nurse’s Aide for the former Northside Manor now The Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist City Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and going shopping. Phyllis loved to spend time with her family and spoiling the grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald G. Bibby, whom she married Nov. 1, 1948; sons, Tyrone and Donald M. Bibby of Mount Vernon; daughter, Jeanette Pelton of Mount Vernon; and six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by two infant sons; daughter, Cynthia Bibby; and sister, Rosalie Summers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service celebrating the life of Phyllis will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Dan Pelton and Fawn Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
