MOUNT VERNON — Bette J. Kellogg, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at the Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon. She was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Kokomo, Ind., to the late Buell and Esse Mae (Parker) Bennett.

She was employed by the City of Mount Vernon for 27 years, finally serving as tax administrator in the city income tax office. Bette attended Gay Street United Methodist Church, loved to spend time reading, and helping out with the mental health association of Knox County. She liked playing bridge and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Kokomo Chapter 89.

Bette is survived by her sons, Jeff (Andrea) Kellogg of Millersburg, Rick (Sandra) Kellogg of Fairfax Station, Va., and Mike (Jan) Kellogg of Snohomish, Wash.; a daughter, Diana (Jerry Williams) Goodnight of Kokomo, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny Bennett of Muncie, Ind., and Don Bennett of Kokomo, Ind.; and a sister, Sandy Gamblin of Kokomo, Ind.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Kellogg; and a sister, Ramona Bateman.

The family will observe a private graveside service with Pastor Susan Stevens officiating, at a later date.
