NEWARK — A funeral service for Paula D. “Gigi” Grant will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home in Newark. Pastor Bill Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Brushy Fork Cemetery.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St.
Mrs. Grant, a loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, following a courageous two-year and three-month battle with cancer. For the past two years, she had made frequent visits for treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Arizona. Born Jan. 10, 1958, in Newark, she was a daughter of the late Gerald R. and Carolyn L. (Pinkerton) Allen. Mrs. Grant retired from the North Fork Local School District, where she had worked as a case manager for 28 years.
Surviving are her husband, James R. Grant; her children, Nicholas (Trudi) Grant of St. Louisville, and Angela (Joshua) Dinehart of Florida; her grandchildren, McKenzi Waspe, Ethan Waspe, Mason Grant, Addison Grant, Jayden Dinehart, Zoey Dinehart, Emma Dinehart, Savannah Dinehart, Trevon Scott and Kalyn Scott; a brother, Robert E. (Tess) Allen of South Carolina; sisters, Emma (Jim) Smith of Newark, Cindy (Jim) Butler of Newark and Diane Schumaker of Nashport; her mother-in-law, Nellie Grant of Newark; sister-in-law, Linda (Don) Jones of Newark; a brother-in-law, Mike Walker of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Tiffanie Dawn Allen; a nephew, Toby Hale; a brother, Bill “Porky” Allen; and her father-in-law, Bruce Grant.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
