HOMOSASSA, Fla. — Blaine E. Stumbaugh, 96, of Homosassa, Fla., died Nov. 27, 2013.
Born May 31, 1917, Greer, Knox County, Ohio, to Clarence H. and Anna M. (Juergens) Stumbaugh. He and his wife, Gladys M. Campbell, whom he married June 27, 1939, moved to Bradenton, Fla., from their home in Loudonville, Ohio in 1985.
Blaine is survived by three children, Gary (married to Patricia Riynock) at Aiken, S.C.; Kenneth (married to Jane Bowman) at Port Clinton, Ohio, and Sondra at Canal Fulton, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and second wife, Ruby.
Blaine had quite a variety of employment. While yet in high school, he worked with his father in the timber business followed by several years at the Flxible Co. in Loudonville. Then he and his wife, Gladys, operated the general store in his hometown of Greer for 13 years. The family, including the three children, then joined Gladys’ parents on a farm near Coshocton, Ohio. On the death of Gladys’ father, the family moved to Loudonville, where Blaine and his father operated the Downtown Shell Service station. He retired from the service station a few years after the death of his father and after 18 years of operation.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys, after nearly 50 years of marriage; and sister, Ruth. He has one living sister, Dorothy Gardener at Mount Vernon; and one living brother, Delmar at Columbus, Ohio. Blaine was remarried on May 23, 1998, to Ruby Auman in Bradenton. In September 2002, they moved to Crystal River, Fla., to be near Ruby’s daughter, Lynn Dively. April 2013, they moved to Sunflower Springs Assisted Living Community in Homosassa. Blaine was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Crystal River.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
