MOUNT VERNON — Helen Lenore Allerding, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

She was born June 16, 1921, in Mercedes, Texas, the daughter of the late Harriet and Howard Reagh. She came to Mount Vernon in 1935 where her parents were born and raised. She met and married her husband, John C. Allerding, in 1942. Mrs. Allerding was a homemaker and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital here in Mount Vernon. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.

She and her husband lived in Florida for 18 years where they loved to play. They returned to Mount Vernon in 2000.

Mrs. Allerding is survived by her husband of over 71 years, John C. Allerding; two sons, John (Sharon) Allerding of Dayton and Gary Allerding of Mount Vernon; her nephew, Ray Underwood; her niece, Cheryl Kimbel; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Allerding was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Hammond; and two sisters, Grace Mahaffey and Frances Jones.

Friends may call Wednesday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The service will begin at 11 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
