SALEM — Mary (Shaffer) Kirk, 85, of Salem, died late Monday evening, Oct. 21, 2013, at her home.
She was born March 12, 1928, in Danville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bernard and Leona (Edward) Shaffer. She was a homemaker, but did have a Real Estate License, was a clerk at Sears, and assisted her husband with the bookkeeping of is gas station business in Danville. She had been a resident of the Salem area since 1972, coming from the Danville-Howard area. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Howard, Grand Matron of the Eastern Star at Utica, Ohio. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Hide-a-way Ladies Golf League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 2001.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Gary) Davies of Homeworth, Steve (Karyl) Kirk of Kansas and Edward Kirk of Texas; siblings, Marilyn (Jay) Nelson of Michigan and Martha “Marty” Shaffer of Florida; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.
She will be laid to with her husband in Workman Cemetery at Danville.
Services will be held Friday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. John Ryser officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
There will be a graveside service Saturday at 1 p.m. in Workman Cemetery.
