MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy Ellen White, 95, of Mount Vernon passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, 2013, at her home surrounded by her caring family. She was born July 28, 1918, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late William and Sarah (McGinnis) Lahmon.
Dorothy along with her late husband, Robert, owned and operated the former White’s Poultry Produce and she later worked for Ed Miller’s Green House in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and an active member of the Euchre Club at The Station Break in Mount Vernon.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard (Linda) White of Mount Vernon, Robert (Beverly) White of Apple Valley, Ralph (Rinda) White of Mount Vernon and Dolores Talbott of Mount Vernon; daughter-in-law, Janet White of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert White; son, Ronald White; brothers, Earl, Harry, William Jr. and Ralph Lahmon; and sisters, Edna Woolison, Pearl Mills, Isabelle Hyatt and Frances Sapp.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Warren Outhwaite officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
