MOUNT VERNON — Raymond C. Vickers, 79, of Clarence Court, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at his home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif., to the late Raymond and Edith (Jensen) Vickers. He was a plumber and pipe fitter his whole life. He was a 50-year Life Member of Local Union 42 in Norwalk, Ohio. Raymond was a very proud patriotic man who always had an American flag flying and loved eagles. He was an avid reader and his favorite book was the Bible. Raymond and his late wife, Allison, always loved to just get in the car and take rides, go to the ocean or see where the car took them. He loved old antique cars and fishing, especially in the ocean. Raymond was extremely proud of his family and loved them very much.
He is survived by his son, Raymond (Annette) Vickers II of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Charlene (Bruce) Walton of Mount Vernon, Janet Hadley of Grass Valley, Calif., and Rodene (Jeff) LaBass of La Mesa, Calif.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marna Becker of Prescott, Ariz.
Besides his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Allison M. Vickers.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Assembly of God (1051 Beech St., Mount Vernon), with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating.
Memorial contributions in Raymond’s name may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark.
