MOUNT VERNON — Robert M. Stricklin, 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Whispering Hills Care Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Cleveland, to the late Harry M. and Bertha (Snyder) Stricklin.
Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and watching TV. He was a World War II Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Ruth (Franz) Stricklin; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lucille Stricklin of Marion; three grandchildren, John (Kimmie) Stricklin of Marion, Erin Umbher of Mississippi and Michelle (James) Lumberson of Marion; and five great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by a stepbrother, George Stricklin; and two stepsisters, Florence Rashcke and Ruth Odenkirk.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m., in Mound View Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home is handling the funeral services for the Stricklin family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, the Knox County Humane Society or Hospice of Knox County.
