SEBRING, Fla. — Dwight O. Ryan, 86, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 1, 2013, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring, Fla.
He was born April 7, 1927, in Mount Vernon, to the late Edna O. (Bebout) and Ralph M. Ryan.
He graduated from Mount Vernon High School, was in the Navy from 1946-48 and went around the world on a Goodwill Tour on the USS Houston. He worked for Mount Vernon Telephone Co. for six years then went into construction in 1955 and built many projects, mostly motels all over the United States. He retired at age 70 and moved to Sebring, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janetta (Hains) Ryan; sons, Bradley (Robin), Bryan (Susan) and Brent (Kim); grandchildren, Sean (Meredith), Sarah, Sami, Sunni, Matthew and Jarrod; a sister, Lucille Bowden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Shirley Ann; and granddaughter, Jessica.
Memorial services will be held at Grace Church of Sebring, 3626 Thunderbird Road, Sebring, FL 33870, on Nov. 1, at 2 p.m.
