MOUNT VERNON — Charles Frederick “Charlie” Hunnicut, 68, of Kirk Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1945, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Glenn and Nora (Trimble) Hunnicut. Charlie was a registered jeweler and a certified gemologist. He owned Roberts Jewelry in Portsmouth, Ohio, and worked at Wise Jewelers in Mount Vernon before owning and operating Hunnicut Jewelry in Mount Vernon.
Charlie was a 1963 graduate of Mount Vernon High School before serving in the U.S. Army with the Army Security Agency from 1966 to 1976. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM and AMVETS Post 95 of Mount Vernon. Charlie enjoyed golfing; and was an avid Corvette enthusiast, owning a 1972 Stingray and 1993 45th Anniversary Edition.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Seavolt) Hunnicut, whom he married May 28, 1967; a son, Fred Hunnicut of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Stephanie (Keith) Bowling of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Candi, Carmen, Sarah and Joel Bowling; two brothers, William (Ann) Hunnicut of Indianapolis, Ind., Jack Hunnicut of Mount Vernon; and canine companion, Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a Masonic and military service provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at the end of calling hours.
