ROCHELLE, Ill. — Robert Dean Dennis, 86, gracefully joined the Lord, surrounded by his family, Oct. 6, 2013, in Madison, Wis. He was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Danville, to Walter Erwin and Ruth Lavina (Eley) Dennis. Bob is a World War II veteran having served our country with the United States Army. He worked as a manager for Caron International for over 40 years. He married Grace Margaret Walton on May 18, 1950, in Mount Vernon. She passed away March 9, 1989. Bob then married Nerina Dapiran Castor on Feb. 16, 1991, in Rochelle, Ill. He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church in Rochelle, Ill. Bob was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Cammie Thompson, on Sept. 12, 2013.
As an avid golfer, Bob had three holes-in-one in his lifetime with two of the three being in the same week! In addition to golfing, he enjoyed walking, wintering in Florida and the company of his great friends. He was a member of the Golden K in Rochelle, Ill. Bob will be remembered as a caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nerina; son, Tom (Kari) Dennis of Hilbert, Wis.; daughter, Tamara (Allen) Martin of Rochelle; stepson, Dominic (Debra) Castor of Simpsonville, S.C.; stepson-in-law, Dale Thompson of Fort Wayne, Ind.; brother, Bill Dennis of Howard; two sisters, Mable Mizer of Mount Vernon and Dollie Stumbaugh of Apple Creek; eight grandchildren, Jarrin, Collin, Lindley and Mia Dennis, Brittany (Jerimie) DeSantos, Alexis and Madeline Martin, and Lorne Thompson; and one great-grandson, Camden DeSantos.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, at the Rochelle United Methodist Church in Rochelle, Ill., with Pastor Cindy Marino officiating. The visitation will be the same day from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial is at the Flagg Center Cemetery. The memorial is to be established.
