CENTERBURG — Fred Edward “Ed” Linkous, 85, of Ohio 656, Centerburg, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Alliance Community Care Center.
He was born May 19, 1928, in Tazewell County, Va., to the late J.B and Barbara (Walden) Linkous. Ed retired from the Highland High School maintenance department after 33 years of employment. He was a member of Chester Lodge 238 and the Sparta Advent Christian Church. Ed enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Eugene “Gene” (Loretta Gamble) Linkous of Centerburg; two grandsons, Chad (Maggie) Linkous of Minerva, Ohio, and Brian (Charlene) Linkous and family of Maryland; three grandchildren, Parker, Grant and Mallory Linkous.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Linkous; three brothers, Charlie Linkous, George Linkous, Carl Linkous; and two sisters, Gladys Lambert and Clara Givens.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a Masonic service will begin at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Tuggle officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery in Sparta.
