MOUNT VERNON — Fred E. Roach, 82, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Centerburg Pointe Nursing Home in Centerburg. He was born in Utica, on Dec. 11, 1930, to the late Virgil and Mary (Applegate) Roach.
Fred was a long time member of the First Church of God. He was very proud of being a veteran of the Korean War. Fred loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing; but most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his three daughters, Vickie (Tim) Williams of Mount Vernon, Vanessa (David) Crisp of Marysville and Linda Gentry of Utica; son, Gary (Connie) Redman of Delaware; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sharma (Talbott) Roach; first wife, Norma Roach; a grandson, Courtney Gentry; two sisters; seven brothers; and a son-in-law, Jerry Gentry.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Rd. Mount Vernon, Ohio, where a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
