FREDERICKTOWN — John F. Novak, 67, of Fredericktown, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Beaver Falls, Pa., son of the late John R. and Agnes (Lominski) Novak.
John was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. He served his country as an administrative specialist and radio operator in the Air Force during Vietnam and worked for the Department of Defense. John earned an associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. After college, John worked for several different companies all over the world such as NASA as a propulsion calibration technician, Honeywell as an explosives Chemist, Brown-Boveri Turbomachinery as a commissioning engineer, Lotema as a design/project engineer, Cooper Energy Services as a project engineer, Environmental Waste Management Corporation as the vice president in research and engineering, and IMESCO Corporation as vice president of engineering. John was vice president of JANESCO Ltd., EnviroWave Corporation and EnviroWave Energy, LLC in Fredericktown. John was an inventor and the owner of 19 patents, and received an Honorary Ph.D. from the University of Sidney.
John is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Ritchey) Novak; son, John David Novak of Wellton, Ariz.; daughter, Jeanne Marie (Frank) Barbosa of Centennial, Colo.; grandson, John Emmit Novak; and granddaughters, Jazzmyn Tate, Taylor Jenne and Jalyn Elaine Barbosa.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St., Fredericktown, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown with Military Honors.
