HEATH — Paul J. Cooper Sr., 86, of Heath, and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Portsmouth, to the late Kenneth and Rebecca Cooper. Paul retired after 37 years of employment with General Motors in Columbus. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Paige (Shovey) Cooper; a son, Paul (Doraine) Cooper Jr. of Marinette, Wis.; two granddaughters, Dawn Durbin and Tina Cooper; a great-grandson, Dana Beal; two sisters, Margaret Moon of Orient and Nellie Cook of West Union; half-sister, Pat Powell; half-brother, Larry Cooper; brother-in-law, Robert Moss of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jo Cooper; a brother, Samuel Cooper; and his twin sister, Pauline Abbott.
A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Deacon Tim Birie will be officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
