MOUNT VERNON — Norma Jean Deem, 74, of Newark Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Country Court Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Knox County, to Russell and Edith (McMannis) Harper. Norma worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. She enjoyed crochet and gardening. But most of all, Norma loved the time she spent with her grandchildren playing ball.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina Payne of Mount Vernon; her son, Harry (Lisa) Deem of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carole (Tim) Corrigan of Mount Vernon and Delores (Terry) Wilson of Newark.
Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by husband, Charles E. Deem and her son-in-law, Samuel Rick Payne.
Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
