MARTINSBURG — Gerald “Red” Davis, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away Sept. 17, 2013, at Columbus Colony Elderly Care.
He was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Utica, to the late Earl and Myrtle (Clark) Davis. Red served in the U.S. Marine Corps., and was a retired oil and gas driller in the Knox-Licking County area. He enjoyed his woodworking and nature. His passion was the outdoors and loved watching birds. Red was an avid OSU and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a former Martinsburg Village Council member and had worked for the Martinsburg Head Start School.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maxine Davis, and his son, Randall Davis of New Albany; also surviving is his brother, Raymond (Gwen) Davis of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Red was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Gene and James Davis.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.. Burial, with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.
