MARTINSBURG — Louis W. Cammuse, 80, of East Liberty Street, Martinsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, with his wife by his side.
He was born April 5, 1933, in Tiptonville, Tenn., to the late Willie and Carrie (Brown) Cammuse. Louis was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1951 till 1955. He served three tours of duty in the Korean War. Louis was later a crypto technician for the National Security Agency. He also was an assistant to the U.S. Joint Chief of Staff and Ballistic Missile System program. Louis was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4027 and attended Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, of over 46 years, Mary Ann (Leedy) Cammuse; his son, Daryl (Rachel) Cammuse of Mount Vernon; his daughter, Sheryl (Paul) Combs of Bryan; two grandchildren, Brittney Combs and Carley Cammuse; his brother, Oscar Cammuse Sr. of Florida; and his sister, Evelyn Paschal of Virginia.
A memorial service will be held Monday, with Pastor Bob Veenhuis officiating, beginning at 11 a.m., at Faith Baptist Church (8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon) with an hour of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. The family will observe a private burial in Union Grove Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
