MOUNT VERNON — Max J. Walton, 68, of Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born April 14, 1945, in Mount Vernon, to the late Harley and Gertrude (Farley) Walton. Max was employed as an administrator for the Colonial City Moose Lodge 2555 here in Mount Vernon. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4027. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. But most of all, Max loved the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Van Dyke) Walton; his son, Kirby (Wendy Wise) Walton of Amity; three daughters, Holly (Jeff) Miller of Mount Vernon, Amy (Ken Scruggs) Walton of Mount Vernon, Barbara Lyons of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, Ceth, Christina (Clark), Kaianna (Dr. Fred), Jacob, Bailey, Danny and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Rosie and Colton; and his brother, Harry (Marcella) Walton of Arizona.
Besides his parents, Max was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Walton.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, with a Colonial City Moose service beginning at 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
