DANVILLE — David Carl Wenger, 69, of Jelloway Rd., died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Country Court in Mount Vernon.
He was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Galena to the late August and Maggie Thelma (MacFarland) Wenger, Sr. He was raised by his adopted mother, the late Rosa Heyden. He was a graduate of Franklin Heights High School in Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, attending auctions, horse sales and spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by two daughters, Kim (Pete) Wise of Brinkhaven and Rosalee (Steve) Hiett of West Jefferson; seven grandchildren, Cory Michael Wise, Matthew James Wise, Jonathan Allen Wise, Samantha Alexandria Teagardner, Katherine E. Reisinger, Daniel L. Hiett and Sarah A.M. Hiett; a step-granddaughter, Steffany C. Hiett; four sisters, Jessie Fancher of Florida, Judy (Bob) Nelson of Virginia, Ina Swisshelm of Virginia and Teressa Alger of Florida; and a very close friend, Adam Hampton of Grove City.
In addition to his parents and adopted mother; he was preceded in death by two brothers, August Wenger, Jr. and Andrew Wenger; and a sister, Thelma Mitchell.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, with graveside military rites performed by American Legion Post 164.
