MOUNT VERNON — Stanley Atlee Bainter, 94, of Mount Vernon, formely of West Lafayette, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon.
He was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Coshocton to the late Jay and Nellie (Johnson) Bainter. Stanley was employed at General Electric in Coshocton, where he worked as a color specialist. After retiring from G.E., he owned and operated Maple Tree Kennel of West Lafayette. He was a graduate of the Coshocton High School class of 1936. He was a member of the West Lafayette Rotary and Central Christian Church in Coshocton. Stanley loved long walks in the woods, training bird dogs, hunting, but most of all he loved his wife of 66 years, Leora Orleta Courtright.
Stanley is survived by his wife; a son, Phillip D. Bainter of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Stephanie Bainter (Ronald) Mahring of Howard; a grandson, John Bainter of Beach City; a great-grandson, Tyler Bainter of Strasburg; a sister, Janice W. Adams of Boone, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Bainter; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by a son, John B. Bainter.
The family will observe a Memorial Service Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m., conducted by Rev. Philip Hunt at The Laurels of Mount Vernon; 13 Avalon Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
