WALHONDING — Samuel Wesley Hubbard was called Home on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. Sam leaves behind his cherished family, wife, Pat Hubbard of 24 years; daughters, Lalania Harris, Karla Hubbard, Heather Carter, Jen (Scott) Snider, Rebecca (Jerry) Jackson; son, John Hubbard; and his 11 forever adoring grandchildren. Sam is also survived by brothers, Larry Comer and Dave Hubbard; and sister, Jeannie Stern-Hubbard.

Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Hubbard; and grandson, Richie Nichols.

This well-traveled man was born Sept. 3, 1949, in West “By God” Virginia, as Sam called it, and passed at the age of 63. To all, Sam is fondly remembered for his commitment to family, sense of humor, and love of music. To his wife, he is remembered as a loving, quick witted, artistic, proud and stubborn man who annually interrogated his children to ensure that he did not forget her birthday. To his children, he is remembered for his vast wisdom, compassion, always providing a soft place to land, and bi-annual interrogations (yep, anniversary too!). To his grandchildren, he was known for popsicles, candy, fun adventures and “shaky” hugs. Sam will be desperately missed by his family and friends. Sam opted out of memorial services; instead he has given his family instructions to have a big party to celebrate his life. The location and date will be announced in the near future. If anyone wishes for an invitation to Sam’s party, they are encouraged to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Pat Hubbard at 7899 Rutledge Road, Walhonding, OH 43843.
