FREDERICKTOWN — Anna Mae Altom, 88, of Tiffin, formerly of Fredericktown, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Ruffing Family Care Center in Tiffin following an extended illness.
Anna was born Feb. 15, 1924, at Waterford in Knox County to Lovell and Mildred (Purdy) Lane.
She graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1942 and had attended the Central Ohio Technical College in Newark. She had worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Co. in Mount Vernon and at the former Zolman’s Market near Fredericktown. She had also served as a teacher’s aide for the Westwood School System in New Castle, Ind. Anna was a member of the Waterford Church of Christ.
Anna is survived by her children, Carolyn (Norm) Harvey of Dublin; Michael (Crystal) Altom of Attica, Ind.; Terry (Gina) Altom of Richmond, Ind.; Brenda Altom of Tiffin; and Debbie Taylor of Losantville, Ind.; stepchildren, Bill H. Altom, John Altom, and Sharon Altom; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild.
Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, William Altom; a son, William Carper; and her sister, Mary Lou Kepe.
Friends may call Monday from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Waterford Church of Christ, near Fredericktown, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.
