Ruby A. Bricker
AUSTIN, Texas — Ruby A. Bricker, 97, passed away May 23, 2007, at Sagebrook Health Center in Cedar Park, Texas, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 25, 1910, in Buckeye City, Ohio, to Edward and Zora (Giffin) Welsh. Mrs. Bricker was a graduate of Danville High School and spent most of her life in Knox County. She was employed for many years by Continental Can in Mount Vernon. She was also a former employee of Mercy Hospital where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 1974. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Norman) Shahan of Austin, Texas, four grandchildren, Christian Durbin of Yardley, Pa., Stephen (Bridget) Durbin of Chesapeake, Va., Michael Durbin of Mount Vernon and Alicia Durbin of Austin, Texas; one great-grandson, Brennan Durbin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Leon Bricker, who died in 1988; two sisters, Marie Frye and Grace Heffelfinger; and four brothers, George, Charles, John and Harold Welsh.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the St. Luke Church in Danville. The Rev. F. Richard Snoke will officiate. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, followed by a prayer service, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Virginia A. Glenn
COLUMBUS — Virginia Arleane Glenn, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Broadview Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Fredericktown Grange.

Formerly of New Albany, she is survived by her children, Janet (Wilbur) Kindler of New Albany, Debbie (William) McKinney of Westerville and Dan (Nancy) Glenn of Downingtown, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeff, Jenny, Bob, Barb, Greg, Becky, Chris, Beth, Eric, Peter, Rory and Sara; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and devoted friend, Carroll Wilson of Fredericktown.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Glenn; daughter, Marilyn Lambert.

Family will receive friends today 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mike Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Virginia R. Kinney
SPARTA — Virginia Ruth Kinney, 94, of Sparta passed away at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, Mount Vernon, on May 24, 2007.

She was born on July 24, 1912, in Sparta to Linneus and Della (Chapman) Pierce. Virginia was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church. She was a 1930 graduate of Sparta High School. Virginia was a member of Evelyn Chapter 236 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sparta United Methodist Women, and the Sparta Get Together Club. She served her community writing the news for the Mount Vernon News, Morrow County Sentinel, Centerburg Gazette and Sunbury News. Virginia was well known for her artistic talents baking and decorating beautiful wedding and all-occasion cakes for many in the local community.

She is survived by two sons, Reuben (Gracie) Kinney of Hershey, Pa., Lewis (Georgeann) Kinney of Centerburg; a daughter, Lois (Garry) Sawyer of Bellville; eight grandchildren, Pam (R.J.) Durda of Owassa, Okla., Mark Kinney, Hershey, Pa., Rhonda Kinney of Oroville, Calif., Kimberly (John) Davidson of Middlefield, Raymond Kinney of Fredericktown, Michael (Tracey) Kinney of Hershey, Pa., Nicole Ramey of Millersport, Richele (Bruce) Garand of Mansfield; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Ellis “Red” Kinney, who passed away in 1982; and a brother, Virgil Pierce.

Friends may call on Monday, May 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral home in Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Tuesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Larry Carnes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.

Joshua A. Simpson
SUNBURY — Joshua A. Simpson, 18, of Sunbury died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Westerville.

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Jan. 30, 1989, to Cliff and Lisa (Cook) Simpson of Sunbury. He was a candidate for graduation from Big Walnut High School and the Delaware Joint Vocational School with the class of 2007.

He is survived by his parents, Lisa and Cliff Simpson; brothers, Daniel, Nathan, Andrew and Timothy, all at home; grandparents, Fulton and Linda Cook and Billy and Merian Simpson, all of Texas; and uncles, Hugh Simpson, Leonard Simpson, Bryan Simpson, Daryl Cook and Adam Cook.

Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 119 N. Cleveland Ave., Westerville, where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastors Herb Koonce and Don Wills will officiate. Interment will follow in Galena Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Flowers delivered to the church Saturday late morning.

Dessell W. White
CENTERBURG — Dessell W. White, 85, of Centerburg died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his home.

A retired farmer, he was also retired from Centerburg Schools after 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, lifetime member of AMVETS Post 59, charter member of Centerburg Conservation Club and lifetime member of Centerburg United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laura (DeBoard) White; children, Steve (Tami) White, Roger (Debra) White, Sharon (Dale) Vogelsang, Randy (Chriss) White and Gwen (Robert) Smith, all of Centerburg; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Fred) Ford of Columbus and Jean Burke of Centerburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley White; parents, Ernest and Myrta White; sisters, Doris and Lela; and brothers, Dale, Merle and Don.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg. Service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Centerburg United Methodist Church, 65 S. Hartford St., Centerburg. The Rev. Gary Pollock will officiate. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.
