Clark Hollis
MOUNT VERNON — Clark Hollis, 86, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday evening, Jan. 24, 2007, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Delaware County to Ellis and Irma (Eberhard) Hollis. He was a member of the Mount Liberty United Methodist Church and a World War II Naval veteran. He was a former Cubmaster for Pack 337, Scoutmaster for Troop 337, board member of the Knox County Health Department and Liberty Township Trustee, life member of the Knights of Pythias and American Legion Post 460. Clark was a lifelong farmer and distributor for Standard Oil/Sohio for 31 years. He loved farming and family was very important to him. He enjoyed sports and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in them.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen (Young) Hollis, and they were married Jan. 2, 1944, in Delaware County; children, David (Becky) Hollis of Naperville, Ill., Martha (Robert) Holbrook of Galion and Stephen (Emilee) Hollis of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Jeffrey Holbrook, Bradley (Marlene) Hollis, Todd (Anne) Hollis, Nathaniel Hollis, Lauren Hollis; great-grandchildren, Noah, Caleb, Margaret Hollis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elmer and Floyd.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. The Revs. Carl Hankins and Carol Weiss will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.

Phillip L. Smith
BRINKHAVEN — Phillip LeRoy Smith, 52, of Brinkhaven passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Jan. 4, 1955, in Mount Vernon, a son of LeRoy and Isabell (Grennell) Smith. Phillip was a former member of the Lions Club in Mount Vernon. He also spent time working on cars, racing cars and watching NASCAR.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Annette (Brown) Smith; sons, Phillip LeRoy Smith Jr. of Mount Vernon and Robert (Shana Spearman) Smith of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Devyn, Taylor, Jordan and Malaya Smith; brothers, Frank Smith of Mount Vernon, Eddie (Darlene) Smith of Mount Vernon, Gary (Pam) Smith of Apple Valley, Jim (Roni) Smith of Columbus and Mike Smith of Mount Vernon; sister, Helen Berger of Mount Vernon; and several brother-, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Smith.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 27, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 206 E. Ohio Ave., Mount Vernon. After 2 p.m. the family and friends are invited to 6 Elliott St. in Mount Vernon for a light meal and fellowship.
