William N. Calland
MOUNT VERNON — William N. Calland, 71, of Granville Road, Mount Vernon,
passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Albert and Marie (Mueller) Calland. William had been employed with HPM in Mount Gilead and had also worked as a consultant for several other industrial companies. He was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 50 years, Lynn (Byrnes) Calland; three sons, Doug (Natalie) Calland of Galloway, Dr. Jon (Joanne) Calland of New Albany, Tom (Lisa) Calland of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Jane (Jesse) Marlow of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Alyssa, Jenell, Sarah, Joe, Tom and Tony; a brother, Colonel Robert Calland of California; six sisters, Betty Jackson of Columbus, Jean Neff of Miamisburg, Dorothy (Mario) Fraccaro of Chicago, Meg Metts of Columbus, Ann Calland of Marion, Ind., and Marti Calland of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Calland, Albert Calland, Edward Calland and Hugh Calland.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a sharing of memories will begin at 2:30 p.m. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.

Linda L. Downer
CARDINGTON — Linda L. Downer, 54, of Cardington died Wednesday, Aug. 16,
2006, at Bennington Glen Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Mount Gilead to the late Melvin Dutton and Esther Storer. A lifelong resident of Morrow County, she was a graduate of Highland High School in 1969. Linda was formerly employed as a supervisor for Core Systems in Mount Gilead.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dell Downer; daughters, Denise Bright of Chillicothe, Bobbie Downer of Chesterville and Racquel (Ray) Castner of Raleigh, N.C.; nine grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Betty) Storer, Jim (Freda) Storer and Larry Storer; sisters, Kathy (Richard) Baughman and Donna Phillips; and sisters-in-law, Sarah Storer, Mary Storer and Lydia Dutton.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Jack Storer and Virgil “Bud” Dutton; sister, Violet Storer; and two infant siblings.

Jeanette Gregory
MOUNT VERNON — Jeanette Gregory, 60, of Ames Street, Mount Vernon, passed
away at her home on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006.
She was born on June 11, 1946, in Tazewell County, Va., to the late John and Annie Belle (Brewster) Lowe. Jeanette was involved with the Cougar Sports Associates and could often be found dining with the “McDonald’s Club.” She enjoyed nothing more in life than spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Jeanette could always be found at the activities that her family participated in.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 41 years, Tom Gregory; three sons, Paul (Tonia) Gregory of Centerburg, Steve (Melissa) Gregory of Mount Vernon and Mark (Tammy) Gregory of Convoy, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Madi, Gunnar, Livi, Jack, Taylor, Tyler, Lexi, Bailey and Cali; three brothers, David (Deborah) Lowe, Ronnie (Sheila) Lowe and Ralph Lowe, all of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Margaret (Harold) Chanay of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, John Lowe II.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Larry Hall and Mr. Roger Crego officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Van Darl Lambert
UTICA — A funeral service for Van Darl Lambert, 81, of Utica, will be held
Saturday at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Merlyn Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
Van was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Aug. 16, 2006, at Select Specialty Hospital, Columbus. He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Harmon, W.Va., to the late Robert and Sylvia (Mullenix) Lambert.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving on the carrier USS Hancock and a 1942 graduate of Centerburg High School. Van and his late wife, Mary Ann, owned and operated Mary Ann’s Sweet Shop in Centerburg and he retired from PPG Industries after 30 years of service. Van was an avid antique car collector and had a lifetime love of books.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judi (Terry) Crowl of Centerburg; sons and daughter-in-law, John D. (Mary Ann) Lambert and Jeffrey E. Lambert, all of Utica; three grandchildren, Jason (Heidi) Crowl, Natalie Lambert and Joshua (Stacey) Lambert; and brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Betty Lambert of Sunbury.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann (Auskings) Lambert, who died Nov. 27, 2005; three brothers, Earl, Warren and Ted Lambert; and four sisters, Evelyn Pocock, Ruby Lambert, Virginia Verne and Irene Comstock.
