Lois M. Armentrout
FREDERICKTOWN — Lois Margaret Armentrout, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon following a brief illness.

Lois was born April 17, 1911, in Cleveland to Harry W. and Margaret (Wilson) Conway and moved to Knox County in 1942. For several years she had worked as a secretary with her father in his accounting business in Fredericktown. Lois was an active member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Joy Circle, the United Methodist Women and had held various offices in the church throughout the years. She was a member of the Thursday Club, Ann Hill Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and the Fredericktown Garden Club, all in Fredericktown.

She is survived by her children, Jack D. (Ann) Armentrout of Westerville and Judy Morlock of Taylorsville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Cyndi (David) Swan, Dwaine (RuthAnn) Armentrout and Abby (Steve) Taylor; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Armentrout; her son-in-law, Myron Morlock; and two brothers, Bruce Conway and the Rev. Allen Conway.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 18, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. with her nephew, the Rev. Dr. Rollin Conway, and Rev. Larry Draper officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Joseph Caccavello
MOUNT VERNON — Joseph P. Caccavello, 90, of Fairgrounds Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2006, at the Arthur James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

He was born on March 11, 1916, at Banger, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Maria (Donato) Caccavello. Joseph was the owner of Columbus Fireworks in Marengo for over 50 years. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.

Surviving Joseph is his caring wife, Judith (Stump) Wilson Caccavello; his son, David (Kathy) Caccavello of Columbus; his stepdaughter, Melissa Wilson of Springtown, Texas; a son-in-law, Gerald Moriarty of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Kevin and Timothy Moriarty; granddaughters, Leslie Caccavello, Jamie, Chelene, Alicia and Calvin Jones; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to Joseph’s parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Caccavello; a daughter, Judith Moriarty; brothers, Leonard, Anthony and Michael Caccavello; and a sister, Rose Piloseno.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with a Rosary service to follow the calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as the celebrant. A chapel committal service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lockbourne.

Susan Ann McElroy
NEWARK — Susan Ann McElroy, 55, of Newark died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark.

She was born March 4, 1951, in Zanesville, daughter of Sally West Robinson of Caldwell and the late Benny D. (Ben) Robinson, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1996. She was a 1969 graduate of Caldwell High School, and a graduate of the LPN Program at Washington State Community College in Marietta. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark. Susan was a member of the Caldwell Church of Christ in Caldwell, and the Utica Church of Christ in Utica.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Jaymie R. McElroy (Don Racey) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one son, Matt D. (Betsy) McElroy of Utica; two brothers, David Robinson (Curt Engeland) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Stephen (Marlene) Robinson of Beaumont, Calif.; one sister, Lynn (Mike) Minyo of Caldwell; one grandson, Tyson B. McElroy; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Utica Church of Christ, 115 North Central Ave., Utica, and Thursday, Aug. 17, at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating.

Norman C. Sears
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Norman C. Sears, 58, of Northridge, Calif., formerly of Centerburg, died Aug. 10, 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edna (McQuillan); two sons, Norman of Columbus and Corey of Morehead, Ky.; five grandchildren, Natasha, Alexis, Colton, Emma and Ryan. Also surviving are five brothers, Richard of Marengo, Kenneth of Northridge, Calif., David of Columbus, Gary of Apple Valley and Carl of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Wanda Chandler of Mount Vernon and Sharon Reece of Newark.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Martin; his father, Richard Sears Sr.; and stepfather, Carl (Peanut) Barber.

Norman’s mother, Pearl Barber, still resides in Centerburg. Mr. Sears served as a medic in the U.S. Navy with the Marines in Vietnam. Before moving to California, he was very active in community service at Centerburg.

Memorial services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Northridge, Calif.

Freda L. Thatcher
DELAWARE — Freda L. Thatcher, 90, of Delaware, formerly of Westerville, died Monday morning, Aug. 14, 2006, at the Cherith Care Center at Willow Brook in Delaware.

She was born on April 19, 1916, near Westerville to the late Frank and Stella (Yearling) Carpenter and was a graduate of Plain Twp. High School in 1933. She was a member of the Sunbury Christian Church and the New Albany Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by sons, Jim (Janet) of Sunbury and Jerry (Ada) of Hebron; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 53 years, Cecil A., in 1989; one brother; and four sisters.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Bratten officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany.

Vincent G. Wiley
COSHOCTON — Vincent G. Wiley, 80, of Coshocton went to be with his beloved Lord on Aug. 13, 2006, at the West Lafayette Care Center.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Solid Rock Foursquare Church on County Road 55, which is located 1 1/4 miles from Roscoe Village on Hill Street. On Saturday, Aug. 19, at the church, visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the service beginning at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Larry Massie.
