MOUNT VERNON — Helen Davis, 84, formerly of Fredericktown, passed away Wednesday,
May 24, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. These arrangements are
under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
Mary Hines
FREDERICKTOWN — Mary Hines, 83, of Fredericktown died Wednesday, May 24,
2006, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Mary was born Jan. 16, 1923, near Bellville to Walter and Clara (Clever) Lemley and had spent most of her lifetime in the Fredericktown area. She was a member of the Johnsville Corner Stone Fellowship Church, the Williamsport Grange and the Retired United Auto Workers associate member of Local 549 in Mansfield.
Surviving are her sons, R. Donald (Kay) Hines Jr. of Mount Gilead and Willie (Kathy) Hines of Marysville; her daughter, Donna (Dan) Wheeler of Union City, Mich.; her daughter-in-law, Karen Hines of Galion; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Jean Lemley of Springfield.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Hines; her son, Earl Hines; a brother, Dean Lemley; and a sister, Martha Lemley.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.

Ruth C. Hulse
MOUNT VERNON — Ruth C. Hulse, 89, of Ohio 229, Mount Vernon, passed away
Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Friends may
call Monday, May 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral
service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sparta United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta. The full edition of Mrs.
Hulse’s obituary will be in Friday’s edition of the Mount Vernon News.
Pauline J. McCullough
LOUISVILLE — Pauline J. McCullough, 78, of Louisville passed away Tuesday,
May 23, 2006, at her home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Louisville to the late James and Bernice (Allman) Cross. Pauline was a retired teacher and had taught in the Barberton and Mentor school systems. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Louisville and was a life member of the Ohio State Alumni Association, the Stark County Retired Teachers Association, NEA, and also the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Stark County OSU Alumni Club, the Louisville Alumni Club, Juillard Senior Center, Eastern Star Louisville Chapter 400, Canton College Club, and was a volunteer at The Juillard Center and Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; a daughter, Lisa; a son, Scott; and a brother, James Cross.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and David Stevens of Chagrin Falls; and two grandchildren, Rachel and William Stevens.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church of Louisville with the Rev. Denise Whitesel officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home, Louisville. Eastern Star services will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

John J. Patton
UTICA — A funeral service for John J. Patton, 82, of Utica will be held
Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Merlyn Jones
officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.
John died May 23, 2006, at Country Club Retirement Campus, Mount Vernon. He was born June 15, 1923, in Utica to the late John G. and Mary E. (Crotinger) Patton. John attended Faith Baptist Church Mount Vernon and was a retired truck driver and farmer.
He is survived by his son, Doug (Lois) Patton of Mount Sterling; daughter, Becky (Bill) Drown of Utica; six grandchildren, Tifney Patton of Newark, Caleb Patton of Mount Sterling, Isaac Patton of Reynoldsburg, Todd Drown and Tara (Kevin) Krotzer, both of Johnstown, and Deborah (Steven) Legg of Croton; and a sister, Genevieve Huff of Utica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Kenney) Patton, who died July 5, 1995; and grandson, Christopher Drown.

Lane Thompson
SHAKER HEIGHTS — Lane K. Thompson, 85, of Shaker Heights died May 12, 2006.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline S. (Schreck); dearest father of Suzy (Ken) Walker of Greensboro, N.C., Steve (Marti) of Richmond, Va., and John of Miami, Fla.; cherished grandfather of Kate, Caroline and Chrissie Walker, and Bob and Erick Thompson; dear brother of Margaret Ann Bair of Mount Vernon; and brother-in-law of Alan Schreck (wife Nancy McCann) of Lakewood.
Memorial service will be Friday, June 2, 2006, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 100 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Arrangements are by Nicol-Wells-Kloss of Cleveland.
