MOUNT VERNON — Daniel Lee Beach, 72, of Mount Vernon died Friday, April
28, 2006, at his residence.
Daniel was born March 16, 1934, in Mount Vernon to the late Robert and Genevieve (Postle) Beach and had spent his lifetime in Mount Vernon.
His aunt Katherine J. Lewis of Mount Vernon and several cousins survive him.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon with the Rev. Jamie Gump officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

Blaine E. Bower
MOUNT VERNON — Blaine E. Bower, 78, of Mount Vernon died April 27, 2006,
at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Jackson County, W.Va., to Harold C. and Alice E. (Balderson) Bower. He was a member and trustee of the Gambier United Methodist Church. He was a 30-year employee of PPG, retiring in 1976. He had been the owner of Blaine Bower Garage for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Shipley) Bower, to whom he had been married 55 years; three sons, Ralph (Patty) Bower of Mount Vernon, Wayne Bower of Mount Vernon and Neil (Linda) Bower of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Chris, Daniel, Jennifer and Casey Bower; four great-granddaughters, Samantha, Madysen, Allysen and Isabelle Bower; three sisters, Elizabeth Shepard of Mount Vernon, Goldie Bower of Danville and Debra Bower of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Bower; and his daughter-in-law, Joyce Bower.
Friends may call at the North-Dilley Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Gambier Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Pellinen officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Martha Lucille Phillips, 94, of North Rim Drive, Surprise,
Ariz., and formerly of Howard, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, in

Mary ‘Noonie’ Whisman
MOUNT VERNON — Mary M. “Noonie” Whisman, 83, of Mount Vernon
died Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.
Mary was born May 18, 1922, in Brinkhaven to Lew and Alta (Petry) Pipes and spent her lifetime in Knox County. She worked as a cook for numerous restaurants in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her daughter, Madeliene Delgouffre of Mount Vernon; her son, Lewis Sleeman of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Blake Delgouffre, Blaine Delgouffre, Paige Black; two great-grandsons, Dustin Delgouffre and Brady Black; her beloved canine companion, Sissy; and many friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Wallace and Charles Wallace; and three sisters, Alice Sheldon, Margaret Ling and Victoria Hoagland.
The family will observe private graveside services in Millwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
