Richard ‘Rick’ Burson
CENTERBURG — Richard “Rick” Burson, 47, of Centerburg died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2006.

A graduate of Centerburg High School Class of 1977, he was born Jan. 6, 1959, in Mount Gilead and had attended the Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He worked as a public relations officer in the communications department of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, writing various work-related safety articles. Rick was also a sportswriter for The Delaware Gazette and The Centerburg Gazette.

He was a baptized believer and lifetime member of the Centerburg Church of Christ. He had been a youth sports and little league coach for 16 years. Rick was currently coaching his son’s 7- and 8-year-old coach pitch-team. He loved playing softball and reading historic literature. A proud supporter and participant of any of his boy’s activities. Humble, but firm in his values with a dry sense of humor, he was always loyal to his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Graves), sons, Jordan, Ethan and David, mother, Barbara (Mahan) Burson, sisters, Martie (Jon) Conklin and Brenda (Brad) Grandstaff, all of Centerburg; parents-in-law, David and Gloria Graves; sister-in-law, Tracey Graves of Mount Vernon; brother-in-law, Travis (Janice) Graves of Bedford; three nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Burson, in 2003.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 S. Columbus Road (Ohio 3), Centerburg, where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastors Roger Crego and Fred Albrecht officiating. Interment Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Elizabeth A. Sanders
COLUMBUS — Elizabeth A. Sanders, 68, of Columbus passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006, at 9:30 p.m. at OSU Medical Center. A loving mother and devoted grandmother left us much too soon.

She was born May 12, 1937, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Arthur and Pearl (Williams) Carter. She was retired from Nationwide Insurance and was a member of the Christian Assembly, where she participated in the Share Group. She was a 1955 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her loving family, including her children, Julie S. (Don) Culpepper of Fairland, Everett E. (Lynette) Sanders III of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Roy A. (Paula) Sanders of Murphy, Texas; one sister, Mary Marshall of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Arthur Carter of Columbus and Dale (Paula) Carter of Hilliard; eight grandchildren; special cousin, Lavata Williams; and two special aunts, Reba Williams and Jane Prince.

She was preceded in death by parents, two sisters and one brother.

Graveside service will be Friday, April 28, at 11 a.m. in Moundview Cemetery at Mount Vernon.
