Pansy M. Funk
MOUNT VERNON — Pansy M. Funk, 82, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.

She was born April 14, 1923, in Milton, W.Va., the daughter of the late Erskin and Mary (Legg) Clagg. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for over 50 years. She had been employed by the Knox County Joint Vocational School for many years.

Pansy is survived by two daughters, Roxanna (Thomas) Metcalfe of Fredericktown and Lillie Tablett of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Seth (Matisha Cassells) Metcalfe, Nathan (Mary Milstead) Metcalfe and Alesia (Israel) Schaaf; four great-grandchildren, Ridley and Bella Metcalfe and Sierra and Lincoln Schaaf; a brother, John Clagg of Reading, Calif.; two sisters, Alice Clark of Hurricane, W.Va., and Carolyn Sue Zirkle of South Point, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James C. Funk; a brother, Erskin Clagg Jr.; and two sisters, Olice Caldwell and Carrie Clagg.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Ryan C. Myers
CENTERBURG — Ryan C. Myers, 17, of Centerburg died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Children’s Hospital of complications from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

He was born June 27, 1988, in Westerville and was a junior member of the Centerburg High School Class of 2007. Proud to be the manager of the seventh-grade basketball team, he also was a member of the FCCLA and on the yearbook staff. A major football fan of the OSU Buckeyes and Philadelphia Eagles, he collected knives, enjoyed music, and attended the Centerburg United Methodist Church. His dad was his best friend, whom enjoyed eating out with and watching movies. Ryan was a helper at the PizzaBurg in Centerburg and was most proud of his great-grandfather’s watch and pets, Rocky and Tyson.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rebecca A. and Jim Tennant; father, Bill Myers; grandparents, Kenny and Virginia “Ginny” Kasson and Oma Bolzenius “Grandma B.” of Centerburg; stepbrother, Michael Tennant; stepsister, Brandy (Iyad) Tennant; aunts and uncles, Kelly Gibson (Desmond Douglas), Dena Troupe, Patty Kessler, Joe (Chris) Myers and Lori Myers Draper; nieces; nephews; cousins; his favorite person, Jeremy Hubbard; numerous special friends including Zach Beals, Jennifer Wallace and neighbor, Anita Novo, whom he enjoyed spending time with.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles “Sam” Myers, Robert and Lavern Tennant; and special great-grandparents, Fred and Mamie Griffith.

Ryan was the joy and inspiration to many people and always remember; that there are no wheelchairs in heaven.

His family will greet friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Centerburg High School gymnasium, 3782 Columbus Road, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Pollock officiating, burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.
