Harriet E. Wineberg
MOUNT VERNON — Harriet Eileen Wineberg, 94, passed away Oct. 26, 2005, at
the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.
She was born June 17, 1911, in Smethport, Pa., to Burdette and Emma (Mattison) Bayle. She was a longtime member of the Copley United Methodist Church in Copley. She was an avid quilter and was very involved in community and church activities for many years. She and her husband, Melvin, were host parents to two American Field Service sons, Theodore Daniels (from Panama, now Texas) and Miklos Gimes (from Switzerland).
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Paul Wineberg, to whom she was married 65 years; three sons: Ted Wineberg, Steve (Danette) Wineberg of Exeter, N.H., and Mike (Sylvia) Wineberg of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah), Jamie (Earl), Jay, Jeff, Kezia (Olivier) and Jess; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kate.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Andy Wineberg, as well as three sisters and two brothers.
There will be no calling hours. A brief service will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Country Club Retirement Campus in the Assisted Living Lobby. The Rev. Dr. Keith Stuart will officiate.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Copley United Methodist Church in Copley, with Rev. Becki Verbridge officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Copley United Methodist Church, 1518 S. Cleveland-Massillion Road, Copley, OH 44321-1908; Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or the charity of one’s choice.
