MOUNT VERNON — Lucy R. Butler, 73, of Mount Vernon died Oct. 13, 2005, at the Country Court Nursing Center. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
M. Jean Ellis
MOUNT VERNON — M. Jean Ellis, 90, of Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born July 11, 1915, in Zanesville to William Arthur Henry Weaver and Rhea Belle Goldie Combs Weaver. She graduated from nurse’s training at the Martin Memorial Sanitarium and Hospital in 1937 and married William W. Ellis, an X-ray technician at the same hospital, on June 19, 1938. He preceded her in death in January 2001. Their daughter, Joyce Ann, was born in 1941.
Mrs. Ellis retired in 1971, after 15 years as supervising medical transcriptionist at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Rapp of Crestline, Calif.; and her granddaughters, Helena Willes of Auckland, New Zealand, and Elizabeth Willes of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Jerry Mohler of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Verna Vogt of Mount Vernon; and her brother, Russell Weaver of Marion, N.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Ellis was a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist and was previously a member of the Hill Church. The Ellis’ had lived in the Mount Vernon area several times.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.

Jeanette Lahrman
MULBERRY, Ind. — Jeanette Lahrman, 73, of Mulberry, Ind., died Oct. 12, 2005, at 7:43 p.m. at Lafayette Home Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1932, in Columbia, Ky., the daughter of William and Bernice (Dixon) Graves. On Feb. 10, 1951, she married Joseph V. Lahrman at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette, Ind. She attended school in Mount Vernon, Ohio, graduating with the class of 1950. She was a Mulberry resident for all of her adult life.
She owned and operated a beauty shop north of Mulberry for several years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frankfort, Mulberry Community Club and Mulberry Mother’s Club. She enjoyed supporting the area schools sports program and watching her grandchildren participate. She enjoyed her time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daniel (Lisa) Lahrman and Gary (Robin) Lahrman, both of rural Mulberry; a daughter, Kimberly (Jerry) Haan of rural Mulberry; seven grandchildren, Nick (Kim) Lahrman of Lebanon, Ind., Andrew Lahrman at home, Justin Haan (fiancee, Karen Swanson) of Avon, Ohio, Blake Haan of rural Mulberry, Abigail Haan at home, Derrick Lahrman of Carmel, Ind., and Morgan Lahrman at home; two sisters, Susie (Ed) Patton of Lafayette, Ind., and Anna (Bob) Oswalt of Tucson, Ariz.; and three brothers, Bill Graves, David (Gloria) Graves and Rodney (Michelle) Graves, all of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley McPeek and Charlotte Cline.
Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 3:30 p.m., at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville, Ind. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frankfort, Ind. Interment will be in Fairhaven Cemetery at Mulberry, Ind.
