Clark J. Gaddis
BELLVILLE — Clark J. Gaddis, 86, of Main Street, Bellville, died Tuesday
evening, Aug. 23, 2005, in Knox Community Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Bellville to Jay Lewis and Pearl (Eller) Gaddis, and attended Bellville High School. A World War II Army veteran, Clark served his country in the Pacific Theater. In addition to his farm, Clark worked for Mohican Trucking as a driver retiring in 1990. He was a member of Irvin Hiskey Post 535 American Legion, and AMVETS Post 43, Bellville, as well as VFW 5101 Robert L. Castor Post and the Lexington Moose Lodge.
Clark was your typical workaholic who could always be found busy in the fields on his Fredericktown farm, sparing only his ears to take in a Cleveland Indians game on the radio as he farmed. When he wasn’t hard at work in the fields, Clark devoted his free time to horse pulling, belonging to both the Buckeye Horse Pullers Association and founding member of the Fredericktown Western Saddle Club.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Ethel Dudley of Mansfield; his daughter, Vivian D. (Charles) Hill of Fredericktown; four sons, Harmon C. (Rita) Gaddis of Mount Vernon, Delmis L. (Terry) Gaddis of Fredericktown, Donley J. (Debbie) Gaddis of Cardington and Randy L. Gaddis and his fiancée, Vicki Wilson, of Albany, Mo.; nine grandchildren, LeeAnn Hoobler, Elaine Johnson, Karen Diaz, Brent Gaddis, Jeff Gaddis, Lynette Squires, Trent Gaddis, Tami Cunningham and Sonny Gaddis; a stepgrandson, Caden Wilson; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline (Charles) Grehl of Upper Arlington; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Gaddis of Mount Vernon; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann (Walker) Little Gaddis, on April 24, 1996; a brother, Clyde Gaddis; and four sisters, Marcella Boner, Geneva Mowry, Kathryn Moree and Martha Leedy.
Friends may call Friday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Mike Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Irvin Hiskey Post 535 American Legion.

Edith O. Matheny
MOUNT VERNON — Edith Oneida (Walters) Matheny, 92, formerly of Millwood,
died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the Eastern Star Home.
She was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Coshocton County to John and Minerva (Rush) Walters. She attended Mount Nebo school near Newcastle. On Sept. 22, 1928, she was married to Jesse Garland Matheny. She was a resident of Millwood for 62 years, and worked as a quilter for Patented Products in Danville for nearly 30 years. She was also a member of the Millwood Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star Knox County Chapter 236.
She loved and lived for her family, and surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Gary) Mizer of Mount Vernon; two sons, Gene (Dorothy) Matheny of Danville and Dean (Donna) Matheny of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren, Linda Jo, Bob, Daryl, Mindy, Patti, Margaret, Gene David, Betsy, Diane, Doug and Leeanne; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland, who died July 9, 1989; a son, Robert Matheny; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Boeshart; three sisters, Elsie McClain, Hazel Sheldon and Ara Fry; and seven brothers, Chester, Burl “Jack,” Arley “Pete,” Harrison “Tim,” Clarence “Cork,” Harold “Ed” and John Walters.
A funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Millwood Church of Christ. Minister Gene Lilly will officiate. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.

N. Ellen Pigman
WARSAW — Nellie Ellen Pigman, 74, of Ohio 541, Warsaw, died Aug. 23, 2005,
at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Coshocton County to William and Nellie (Cly) Randles. She was a homemaker and member of the New Guilford United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Milton Y. Pigman, whom she married Dec. 27, 1948; a son, Clarence M. Pigman of New Mexico; a sister, Jeanette Hans of Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
The funeral will be Sunday, Aug. 28, at 2:30 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw.

Mary F. Tepper
WESTERVILLE — Mary F. “Honey” Tepper, 79, of Westerville died
Tuesday evening, Aug. 23, 2005, in Westerville.
She was born March 15, 1926, in Columbus to Charles S. and Florence S. (Brown) Riegel. She was a lifelong resident of Sunbury and Westerville.
A devoted mother and survived by a son, Dave (Carol) Tepper Jr. of Westerville; a daughter, Pat (Don) Shockley of Westerville; grandchildren, Dawayne, Ray, Kimberly and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Bubby, Travis, Zackary, Rayanne and Joey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David Tepper, in 2002; great-grandson, Jacob; a sister, Margaret Bird; and brothers, Charles and Harold Riegel.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Wayne Booth will officiate. Interment will be in Burnside Cemetery.

Christine E. Webb
SUNBURY — Christine E. Webb, 75, of Sunbury passed away Wednesday, Aug.
24, 2005, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Johnstown and was a graduate Johnstown High School Class of 1947.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Harold Webb; sons, Dan of Columbus and Roger and Mike of Sunbury; daughter, Susan (Kevin) Kretschmer of Powell; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Clark and Charlene Burrell, and brother, Norman Evans, all of Johnstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel (Haughn) Evans; and infant son, Stephen.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor John Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery at Johnstown.
