MOUNT VERNON — Clifford Ellis, 39, of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the Knox Community Hospital. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Vernon.

Justin J. Gornichec
COLUMBUS — Justin Jae Gornichec, infant son of Mistie (Osborne) and Jason Gornichec, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

In addition to his parents he is survived by maternal grandparents, Curtis and Beckie (Quick) Osborne of Centerburg; paternal grandparents, Robert and Nancy (Thomas) Gornichec of Centerburg; great-grandmothers, Mary Ellen Osborne of Centerburg and Ruby Thomas of Mentor; uncles, Jeffrey Gornichec of Dover, Del., and B.J. Osborne of Centerburg; aunts, Jamie Gornichec of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kristen Osborne of Centerburg; and great-aunts and great-uncles.

Private graveside services will be held today in Lock Cemetery with Evanglist Fred Albrecht officiating. DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marie Maxwell Horn
MOUNT VERNON — Marie E. Maxwell Horn, 84, of New Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at her residence.

She was born June 7, 1921, in Knox County to Grover and Myrtle (Hoar) Carter. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Marie was an avid bowler and was well known in her family as being a card shark at euchre.

She is survived by two sons, Dick (Vicki) Maxwell of Fredericktown and Terry (Carol) Maxwell of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Elaine (Homer) Grant of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren, Jackie (Steve) Shorten, Brenda (Dale) Wells, Alissa Maxwell, Becky Maxwell, Doug (Angie) Maxwell, Craig Maxwell, Brent Maxwell, Kevin Maxwell and Jenny Maxwell; eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Mindy, Randy, Zach, Katie, Xavier, Morgan and Kennedy; a stepson, Edward Horn; and a stepdaughter, Tammy Keith.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of more than 50 years, Guy Maxwell; her second husband, Herbert Horn; a brother, Harold Carter; and a sister, Ruth McMillen.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Robert T. Huffman
FREDERICKTOWN — Robert T. Huffman, 41, of Fredericktown died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at his residence.

He was born April 19, 1964, in Mount Vernon and had spent his lifetime in Knox County.

Surviving are his mother, Helen (Smith) Huffman of Fredericktown; five brothers, Joseph Stacey of Mount Vernon, Thomas Stacey of Canal Winchester, Clarence (Dawna) Huffman of Elkton, Md., Charles (Debbie) Huffman of Sheppardsville, Ky., and Richard Huffman of Medina; five sisters, Lucy (James) Kennedy of Oberlin, Mavis (John) Ellison of Vermilion, Mary (Linn) Freeman of Mount Vernon, Betty (Bryan) Tice of Utica and Ruth (Phil) Sigman of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Huffman.

Erma Jones
MOUNT VERNON — Erma Jones of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Vernon.

Robert D. Koch
HOWARD — Robert Dale Koch, 43, of Howard, and formerly of Columbus, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005.

He was born March 27, 1962, in Columbus to John R. and Henrietta (Breeckner) Koch. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Columbus, was an avid collector of eagle figures, was employed as a truck driver at U.S. Xpress, and served his country for six years in the Army Reserves in the Military Patrol Unit of Franklin County from 1982 to 1989. Robert spent his time off at home enjoying his family and visiting his many, many friends. He stayed in touch with schoolmates and with many of the semi-truck drivers he trained throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sharon (Smith) Koch; mother, Hennie Koch of Columbus; two sons, Clifford Koch of Mount Vernon and Warner Tillman of Howard; a daughter, Tammy (Mike) Lindsey of Centerburg; five grandchildren, Brittany, Corey, Lyle, Ciera and Tritnie, all of Columbus; three brothers, Gary Koch and Greg Bennington, both of Columbus, and John (Lynn) Koch of Stockport; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Koch; and a sister, Mary Koch.

Friends may call Monday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where service will be at 1 p.m. Evangelist Fred A. Albrecht will officiate.
