BRYAN — Veda Velma Dawson, 96, of Bryan died June 15, 2005, at Hillside Country Living where she had been a resident.
Veda was born Sept. 25, 1908, in Bryan to Leonard and Rosa (Himes) Davis. She was a foster parent for over 37 years, and worked at Cameron Hospital in Bryan for 20 years.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Dawson of Defiance and John Dawson of Mount Vernon; one foster daughter, Michelle Bible of Montpelier; one stepdaughter, Bonnie White of Greely, Colo.; one sister, Thelma Kiplinger of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dawson; and one daughter, Mary Lou Dawson.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 3 and 7 to 8 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan, where funeral will be at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.

Avis F. Hagelbarger
MILLERSBURG — Avis Fern Hagelbarger, 90, a resident of Sunset View Nursing Home, formerly of Killbuck, died Thursday, June 16, 2005.
She was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Holmes County to Charles L. and Lena L. (Barnes) Bower. On July 5, 1936, she was married to Carl H. Hagelbarger, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Killbuck and a 60-year member of the Tiverton Grange.
She is survived by a daughter, Miriam (Frank) Sanor of Minerva; a son, John (Alice) Hagelbarger of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Mark Hagelbarger, Sandra (David) Maruna, Lea-Ann (Adam) Johnson, Stephanie (Russell) Thomas, Shari (Frank) Armstrong and Susan (Sam) Nastari; eight great-grandchildren, Conner and Alexander Nastari, Kyle and Courtney Maruna, Eileen and Joshua Armstrong, and Zachary and Paige Thomas; two sisters, Eva McGinnis of Danville and Janet Daley of Mount Vernon; and a brother-in-law, Harry (Lee) Hagelbarger.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Bower; and four sisters, Laura Thorne, Maxine Stricker, Evelyne Leisure and Ruby Ridgway.
A funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Killbuck. Minister John Damron will officiate. Burial will be in Tiverton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
