James D. Lord
SUNBURY — James D. “Jim” Lord, 70, of Sunbury passed away peacefully
Monday evening, May 9, 2005, at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Wilford J. and Leslie L. (Pierce) Lord. Originally from California, he moved to Columbus in 1993 and had resided in Sunbury since 2003. A Vietnam veteran, his military career spanned 31 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
A member of St. John Neumann Church, he was an accomplished artist in the mediums of clay and oil. An avid reader of history, war and English literature, he also enjoyed bicycling and golfing in the DCSC golf league. Meticulous in nature, he treasured his family and Craftsman tools. He was the perfect father who loved life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Arnell (Perry); sons, Dennis (Andrea) of Ozark, Mo., Kevin of Sunbury and Steven Lord of Visalia, Calif.; daughter, Teresa (Brett) Westervelt of Galena; grandchildren, Darlena, Dennis, Grace, Jackson, Stephanie and Ashleigh; brother, Gerry (Roberta) Lord of Idaho; and sister, Colleen (Aldo) Pia of California.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, with prayer service at 5:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, 9633 E. Ohio 37, Sunbury, with the Rev. James Walter as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
